Tonight is my company's summer party on the rooftop.  We have a boardwalk theme so there will be caricaturists, tarot card readers, etc.  Hopefully it doesn't rain!

It really is a cool idea.


In other news my kids picked about dozen tomatoes from our garden, plus a big zucchini and basil. 

I used one jar of bionaturae strained tomatoes and pureed it with an onion, the zucchini and half the tomatoes.   Put in the crock pot along with the rest of the tomatoes chopped up and basil.
We'll serve it with the red lentil pasta I mentioned in the past (absolutely no ingredients in it except red lentils and the kids love it!).

 

Easiest and freshest dinner ever!

Today is my grandmother's 94th birthday so me and the little two are heading up to visit her.

My middle one is missing his big brother (who is in FL with his daddy for a wedding) so much - it is too cute.

Jury Duty

I spent nearly 7 hours in a jury duty waiting room before being dismissed.  I need to call again next Monday to see if they need me and if they don't I am done for six years.

My brain is so fried from doing nothing I can't even write anything more!

Quiet Sunday

Quiet day on tap for today.  Went to Whole Foods and nail salon.  Now hanging out in backyard.  We'll likely go out for dinner later and that's it.   Early to bed tonight since tomorrow starts the second half of camp where my middle one joins the big boy.

Rock of Ages

Went to see Rock of Ages again with two high school friends today.  We usually meet up once a quarter to go out for dinner and it was my turn to choose the restaurant....so I asked if we could switch things up and see a matinee of the play instead.  SO FUN!

BEST MEAL OF MY LIFE.

We started at 6:30 and ate and drank until close to 10:30.  Our table was even selected to sit outside for 2 courses (bottom right pic). We also were allowed in the kitchen and saw Dan Barber in action.  What an incredible night.

Thankfully my kids are pretty good when we go out to eat.  We know what works for them - order quick, two courses only and get them in before they are starving.

I haven't ironed in years.  Most of my clothes are dry clean, but those that aren't I have always used wrinkle release sprays - they work perfect on those hectic mornings.

Birthday Party

I slept in until 7:30 -- luxurious in my book!

We all went to Whole Foods by 8:30.  My oldest had a 4 pm birthday party for his friend so I took him.  Meanwhile my husband had his grandma join him and the little two for dinner at our house.

9:06 and all the little people are passed out for the night.

Weeknight Entertaining

In line with yesterday's post I wanted to talk about weeknight entertaining.  I never do this during the school year, but now that summer is here and bedtimes are a bit more relaxed I am all for it.

I found this article that gives some good Get It Done Tips for weeknight entertaining.  Get some pizza dough and toppings and grill your own pizzas and top it off with some ice cream.  An easy treat to liven up the work week!

PS - I had a buddhist monk come up to me on 34th Street today and put a beaded bracelet on me and say a prayer.  Not sure what it means, but documenting it since this is also my diary. :)

Where Did the Weekend Go?

Well, that flew.

Had a great time last night with our friends.  This morning they stayed for breakfast, which we enjoyed outside.

My husband went to help a friend move so the little men and I went to Whole Foods.  When my husband got home we all went to Costco.  Then we took his grandmother out to dinner.

Everyone is in the pool now.  Off to bed soon - I hope!

Overnight Guests

Looking forward to having my friend and her family come over for the night.  They should be here around 3:30. I plan to take my friend for a mani/pedi when she gets here and the husbands will watch the kids.

When we get home we have on the menu grilled filet mignon, corn, zucchini, pasta salad and birthday cake.

Happy 4th!

Enjoyed a great massage and facial this morning.  Went out for hibachi dinner since it was pouring rain and I didn't feel like grilling.

By the time we got home the sun started to peak out of the clouds so my little two stripped to their birthday suits and ran into their little inflatable pool.

We then had dessert. 

My big boy has been enjoying the cooking portion of his camp and brought home a mini apple pie Friday.  He begged me to make another one so we did that today.  It came out great.  Used this simple recipe.

All are bathed and in pajamas and we'll see if we can catch a firework outside or on tv.

Looking forward to a visit from my oldest friend and her family tomorrow.
