Security was tight in the city today as expected. It's hard to believe it has been 12 years since the attacks. It is still hard for me to wrap my head around the enormity of what happened. Although it is in my subconscious every day - particularly when I walk through high traffic areas on the weekday like Grand Central.
My plans for today's blog seem so trivial given the solemn day so I am going to keep it brief just to journal what happened in general.
I had to get to work to meet someone by 8 so got up super early and had a day packed with meetings.
Going home I missed my regular train so got on the next train which I haven't taken in years. When I saw it whiz by my stop I thought greeeaaattt. When I called my husband and he didn't answer emails or calls after 20 minutes I put the phone down and let it go.
I always feel things happen for a reason, so I figured I would make the best of the evening while I waited for him to call back.
I went to Starbucks and sat out on the terrace sipped a passion fruit iced tea.
I went to a pizzeria and had a slice of pizza (I had taken out the last bag of leftover turkey with gravy and veggies for dinner for their dinner so knew they were at least fed).
I went to CVS and bought a card, nail polish and sour jelly beans. ;)
and then he called. They were in the pool having their own fun which is why I didn't hear from them.
BUT, before my husband picked me up a friend emailed me a text by accident. In it she mentioned she was looking for part-time work and mentioned she would do a few hours at a walgreens or cvs and was having a problem finding something. I told her even though it wasn't meant for me I was at that very moment IN a CVS a few towns over so would ask if they were hiring. They were, so I sent her the info. How crazy would it be if she got a job there? We'll see!
Got home around 7:30 and my husband took the two little ones upstairs while I worked on homework with the big guy.
All are in bed now and I need to get some work done for the office.
Also received the sweetest note from one of my oldest friends telling me how much she has been enjoying this blog and the tips. I am so lucky to have such great friends who are so supportive and encouraging! Love you!
That's it for tonight.
Thinking of those who lost so much today. May they all find peace.
