I LOVE Amazon Prime. I never get tired of the topic. The endless amounts of random things I can have shipped to my door (diapers, detergent, baby bottle liners, shampoo, I will stop now!) so I don't have to go to the store has been life changing. I work five days a week and when I am not working I want to spend every minute with my kids and not in a store...unless of course we're talking about going to Lord and Taylor.
Amazon Prime is a few bucks a year and you get most items shipped to your door second-day air. The subscribe and save is also a kick butt way to get things you use often at an even greater discount. LOVE. Anyhow, I have found a broad selection of non-perishable organic food on Amazon including organic brown sugar. I ordered it and was clearly too excited to read the fine print and now have 6 packages sitting in my cupboard so am looking for ways to use it up! I found the recipe below also in Gooseberry Patch's new Quick and Easy Autumn book (I am a Gooseberry Patch junkie!). I normally like to only use ingredients that aren't canned, but when I find a recipe that looks really odd I just have to try it, so here we are today.
6-Bean Casserole
1 lb. ground chicken or turkey
15 oz can green beans
15 oz yellow wax beans
15 oz butter beans
15 oz great northern beans
16 oz light red kidney beans
16 oz pork and beans
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup onion chopped
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 t white vinegar
1 t dry mustard
Brown meat, put into crockpot with remaining ingredients. Stir and cook in crockpot for 8 hours.
The Verdict: My husband said "this is good". The rest of us, not so much.
Get it done tip: Amazon Prime - 'nuff said.
